Privacy
Wisdom of the Chat has no accounts, no database, no cookies, no ads and no analytics. We don't collect or store anything about you.
The game runs in your browser
Everything happens on your own device. Chat messages, answers, profile pictures and results live in your browser's memory for the round, then disappear when you start a new round, reload or close the page. None of it is sent to us, because we have no server that could receive it.
Signing in with Twitch
- You sign in on Twitch's own page. We never see your password.
- We ask for no extra permissions. The sign-in only confirms your public Twitch username. It can't read your email or messages, post in chat, or change anything on your account.
- Twitch gives your browser a sign-in token. It is kept only in your browser and is only ever sent to Twitch, to check who you are and to fetch chatters' public profile pictures.
- Sign out of Twitch in the Sign in & settings menu cancels the token with Twitch and deletes it from your browser. You can also remove access at any time in Twitch under Settings → Connections.
Reading chat
Your browser connects straight to Twitch chat as an anonymous, read-only viewer, the same way a logged-out visitor sees chat. It can't post messages. Chatters' public profile pictures load directly from Twitch.
If you're in a streamer's chat
When a streamer plays Wisdom of the Chat, your username, profile picture and answer appear on their stream, just like any chat message. Nothing about you is saved by the game.
What's kept on your device
To save you signing in each time, the page keeps these in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device except to talk to Twitch:
- your Twitch sign-in token
- the channel name you connected to
Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them.
Services that help run the site
- Cloudflare hosts the site and protects it from attacks. Like any web host, it handles your IP address and browser details to deliver pages. We've switched off Cloudflare's storage of request logs for this site. Cloudflare's privacy policy
- Twitch provides sign-in, chat and profile pictures. Twitch's privacy notice
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces, so your browser fetches font files from Google. Google's privacy policy

Children
Wisdom of the Chat is made for Twitch streams. Twitch requires users to be at least 13.
Your rights and changes
Because we don't hold personal data, there's normally nothing for us to show, correct or delete. If you have any question about your data, email hello@wotc.stream. If this page changes, the date at the top will change too.
